Give your new app the best chance of success with a great description

In addition to filling a niche, offering something other apps don’t, providing a seamless user experience and being well made, your new app will also need to have a stellar App Store or Google Play description. The description is an absolutely key part of your business app development project as without it, you might not see the downloads and installs that your app deserves.

The description helps App Store and Google Play users to decide if your app is right for them so it must stand out and really sell your creation to capture their attention and convince them to hit that ‘Get’ button. Here’s how to perfect your description…

1. Make the first lines the strongest

Only the first two and a bit lines or so will appear to App Store users without them having to click the more link for the full description to drop down. These initial two lines are therefore key to grabbing the attention of the user and pulling them through to the next stage of the journey; app download. Make this first part of your description the best you can and don’t be afraid to A/B test. This will allow you to refine the crucial opening lines and present the best possible variation to would-be users.

2. Be clear on the problem and solution

If you are putting a business app out to market it’s likely that you have done so after identifying a problem and devising a solution. The best apps make life easier for their users – and many will specifically head to the App Store or Google Play precisely because they need a solution to a problem. Tap into that to connect with the App Store visitor by ensuring your description clearly identifies the problem, show your understand the consequences of that issue, and then outline how your app offers a solution.

3. Reference any accolades or reviews

As your app wins over more users and makes its way in the big wide world, you may will find that you’re garnering reviews from prominent industry publications, well-known names in your space or delighted users. If you can work these into your description, you immediately add credibility to your app which can help convert those on the fence about installing it.
