7 things to remember before you launch your app

Patrice Appleton • Sep 11, 2018

Great app ideas are like gold dust. More people than ever are using apps, and there’s still so much scope for growth on the market that the success and popularity of the mobile app is only going to grow. All you need for online success is one great idea and the rest is history. Or is it?

You don’t want to spend all your time and energy on coming up with the app of the century, only to find that it launches unsuccessfully, so before it does, don’t forget to keep these tips in mind.

Identify your target audience

When that flash of inspiration comes to you, it will most likely spring out of necessity of some kind. You may have noticed a gap in the market for a product that would help work environments, or maybe there’s something you needed that you just couldn’t find anywhere. Because of this, you should already have a good idea of who your app is for.

Register your domain and create a small website

A landing page helps lay a foundation for your app users and creates the go-to online place for information, help and advice on how to use your app. Before you get started with your app development process, secure that domain.

Open social media accounts

Similarly with creating a domain, your social media accounts are the place most of your customers will see you, and yet it can be quite difficult to secure the name you’d like. Head to social media early on in your apps development, as it offers great opportunities to market, and can be the perfect place to announce your launch while building a community.

Define what ‘success’ means

This is something many companies struggle with as people can often be on different pages when it comes to defining success. Is success being the top rated app on Google Play? For most companies it won’t be. Is success gaining a steadily growing amount of downloads per month? That’s more like it.

Add your app to the app stores of your choice

Take into consideration the value vs. the cost of these app stores. It’s a smart idea to take a look at which app store is most widely used by your target audience and list there, but if that’s Apple’s iOS App Store remember to...

Create a bullet proof privacy policy

Apple’s iOS App Store has recently announced that it will no longer list apps that don’t have a privacy policy in its app store, so if you want to list there, you need to do your research and get compliant.

Spread the word

All that’s left from here is to get the word out. Ensure you’re using the marketing channels frequented by your target audiences and make sure you have a plan for the future.
