Affordable (paid) marketing tools to promote your app

Patrice Appleton • Aug 13, 2019

Finally being able to build a mobile app for your business is a landmark occasion and one that you’ll want to maximise to its fullest. We know that you’ll need introduction to the power of marketing and promotion but sometimes, it can feel overwhelming having so much choice. In today’s post, we want to take some of the confusion away from what you should or shouldn’t be doing, with a roundup of effective, affordable paid marketing tools to promote your app and help your money go further.

1. Create a paid social media campaign

This paid marketing tactic is both affordable and extremely targeted. Paid social media is – you guessed it- essentially an advert which appears on a social media platform. It’s an advertising medium that is thriving at the moment and one which gives you plenty of flexibility, options and opportunities for creativity.

The actual advert look and feel will vary depending on the social network you choose and the format you go for. The simplest is a boosted post on Facebook, where you pay aa fixed amount to show a post to more people but you can go much further with ongoing ads with images, sliders and even video.

Because social media networks gather so much information about their users from the profile, paid social ads can be very precisely targeted according to criteria such as age, gender, location, profession and interests. This makes it a great way to promote your app because you can be sure all of your budget is being spent reaching your ideal user persona.

2. Invest in an influencer collaboration

Bloggers and influencers very rarely agree to work with your for free but, you will often find that it’s a little more affordable than you thought, especially if you select a very niche micro influencer that aligns with your app type and its intended end user. Working with an influencer can be an opportunity to get very creative. It is a collaborative process so don’t be afraid to ask your selected influencer for their input.

3. Throw a press launch

Throwing a press launch sounds very grand but it can be done on a budget if you’re resourceful. A press launch is a great way to introduce your app to the media and a good way to begin to generate media coverage. If you have space at your place of work, you can hold the event there to cut down on spend. Be sure to have plenty of tablets or smartphones set up so your guests can try your event for themselves.
