4 things you should do the day your app launches

Save this list for the day your new business app goes live

It’s finally the day – after weeks or months of designing, deciding on features for your new business app, making the final call on photos and tweaking the copy, your brand new business app is going to emerge into the world.

This is an exciting day and the fruits of all of your hard work but, you can’t take your foot off the gas pedal quite yet. To ensure that you give your new business app the best possible start, here are a few things to add in to your launch day to do list…

1. Share a compelling social media post with video

Social media is a great way to announce the debut of your app and gives you a chance to reach both your existing customers along with other potential clients and interested parties – perhaps even the media.

Prepare a compelling social media post which really showcases your new app. Focus on its USPs, the problems or issues it solves for your users and how it can improve their life or help make their day less frustrating, more productive or downright easier. Along with the post, included a video showing the app in use to really bring its features to life. You can post this on Stories, on your feed or share as a Live.

2. Send out an email to your customers with an offer

Another important job to do on day one is to reach out to your current and previous customers to tell them your news. Do this via an email send so you can track open rates and clicks. Your current clients are brand advocates in the making so get them excited about your creation and keen to spread the word by including an offer for them. This could be something as simple as a discount code when downloading the app or making their first purchase via the in-app shop or a prize draw for those who download and spread the word.

3. Send out a news bulletin to your local and industry media

Launching your new business app represents a significant milestone – it’s an investment in the future of your business, perhaps a conduit to future growth plans and a representation of your commitment to elevating your user experience. Celebrate this by telling your local and industry media about this accomplishment. Again, share what’s different about your app, how much research has gone into the design and functionality and where it sits within your wider business strategy.

4. Add download buttons to your site

To maximise downloads, make sure you have your App Store or Google Play download buttons on your site. These should be easily found and visible on each page.
